No video from Skybell HD with pfSense firewall

Technical Support Bulletin

Title: No video from Skybell HD with pfSense firewall (open source install and retail sold devices)

Phones Affected: All. No video upload to S3 from device. Tier 2 and 3 can verify this.

If the device syncs, and functions properly over LTE but not in the customers home or work, this could be a default rule in the pfSense configuration table. (verify by having customer go around firewall by using LTE)

Resolution: enable "Clear invalid DF bits instead of dropping the packets" under the "System: Advanced: Firewall and NAT " Tab. Then video will be passed through he firewall properly.

To test, put phone on LTE:

1. Pull-down Menu Procedure Android

  • Pull down the menu from the top (this feature is not available on all Android

    models - follow procedure 2)

  • Select the Cellular Data Icon

  • Move the slider to the on position

  • Slide menu back up

  • Turn off Wi-Fi

  • Return to the SkyBell Screen

  • Proceed with testing

2. Settings Procedure iOS

  • Hit home button

  • Go to the settings icon

  • Scroll to the Wi-Fi slider

  • Turn off Wi-FI

  • Turn on cellular data

  • Return to the SkyBell Screen

  • Proceed with testing

• Return to the SkyBell Syncing Screen • Proceed with the syncing procedure • Turn Airplane Mode Off
